2022 Genesis G90 Review | Large Luxury Sedan
Ready for the new era, the 2022 Genesis G90 is the ultimate sedan. From interesting technologies to the most exquisite materials, there’s little missing from this luxury ride.
One reason luxury shoppers choose the G90 sedan over rivals is the thousands of dollars they can save while still getting all the standard equipment they have been hoping for. This review will take a look at how the G90 and G90 Long Wheel Base cover every aspect of luxury living.
Performance Powertrains
Driving enthusiasts want luxury cars for the performance. Clearly Genesis engineers know this because they have outfitted the 2022 Genesis G90 with two remarkable powertrain choices and well-tuned 8-speed automatic transmissions.
A G90 driver commands 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque with the twin turbo V6. Although large and spacious, this sedan is able to rush from 0 to 60 mph in only five seconds. There are sports cars that can’t claim that capability. Rear wheel drive and all-wheel drive are offered on this model.
Of course, a true driving aficionado may want to step up to the 5.0-liter V8 option. This allows them to command 420 horsepower and 383 pound-feet. The electric supercharger engine comes with all-wheel drive and is standard on the G90 Long Wheel Base.
Impeccable Handling
If you’ve ever driven a rear wheel drive sports car, you know they can be more fun. Well, the Genesis rear wheel steering takes racy RWD to a new and more refined level. While cornering at speed, the system is able to angle the rear wheels to better match the front wheels. In fact, the rear wheel angle may surpass the front wheels by as much as two degrees.
This technology helps at low speeds too. To create grip, the system can direct the rear wheels to an angle as much as four degrees different than the front wheels.
Braking is especially important in a performance sedan. In addition to the premium brakes, Genesis gives the driver the ability to alter the braking experience. There are three settings to personalize the response.
Unique Camera-Enhanced Suspension System
Genesis has created a Preview-Electronic Control Suspension. This multi-chamber feature can make automatic, real-time adjustments. Since it previews the road with its front-facing camera, it actually adjusts just ahead of the difficulty, such as a big bump, dip or pothole.
On a bad stretch of pavement, the air suspension may elevate the front and rear. This ensures a better ride quality for the passengers and a better response for the driver. The system is adjustable with three driver settings.
When dealing with an uneven exit, the large sedan will not scrape even if it is nose-down. That’s because the sedan has a sensor that recognizes uneven travel and elevates the front wheels at slow speeds.
The Active Noise Control-Road system uses technology, insulation, and other noise-proofing techniques to keep the ride quiet. Sealing the deal, Genesis uses laminated windows for the front, back and sides.
Size and Style
No matter how refined the ride quality or how exciting the performance is, a luxury car must be spacious and stylish. The 2022 Genesis G90 covers this requirement with ease and grace.
The cabin measures 113 cubic feet, more than many SUVs today. As such, the second row can offer spaciousness usually associated with the front seat. There are dual panoramic roofs to add a sense of openness to the cabin.
Drivers will appreciate the Fingerprint Authentication System which knows who they are and makes the cabin ready for them. On the dash, there are dual screens for digital instrumentation, information, entertainment, and navigation. This system can be updated with over-the-air upgrades as needed.
A head up display puts the most essential information on the windshield in easy view. Acoustic Lens Tech sound is standard. Owners will like the special pop-up tweeters as well as the premium surround experience.
If driving a VIP, the driver can have special front headrest speakers. This allows them to enjoy their own entertainment and information without disturbing guests. This is especially nice when using the navigation system.
Furthermore they have a Mood Curator on the center console at their fingertips. With this simple device, they can adjust the backseat curtains, change the ambient lighting, and turn up or off the fragrance system.
VIP Treatment
Second row passengers can get the VIP treatment with privacy curtains, fold-down trays, and power chairs. Genesis places a touch screen on the armrest where the VIP may control their environment. This includes the temperature, sound system settings, panoramic roof setting, and more.
For the ultimate VIP seats, the V8 edition adds everything to the second row that is available for the first. This includes massaging power chairs, power heat, and most importantly for Arizona owners, power ventilation. They may have dedicated footrests with power ventilation and power heat to match the chairs.
The rear seats have 10.2-inch touch screens on the back of the front seats. For concert sound, there’s a Virtual Venue 3D system. There are 23 speakers, and the driver can tailor the system to the back row. The VIP can regulate their own sound.
To help VIPs in and out of the vehicle, Genesis provides EasyClose doors that can gently close without human assistance. The seats have side bolsters that inflate for use, but will deflate to make exiting easier.
Safety
The 2022 Genesis G90 offers a long list of crash avoidance features. For automation, Genesis provides smart cruise control which handles stop-and-go duties with minimal assistance from the driver. On the interstate, Highway Driving Assist takes automation even further with a lane departure system.
Easy to park, the vehicle offers a parking collision avoidance assist that may brake the vehicle in certain dangerous situations. To park the car without much assistance from the driver, Genesis offers Smart Parking Assist.
Systems are always at work behind the scenes, warning about forward collision dangers and triggering an autobrake in certain situations. The sedan also has a blind spot monitor to reduce the chances of a collision during a lane change.
With so much to offer all types of luxury shoppers, the 2022 Genesis G90 is definitely worth a test drive. Check out your choices and reach out with your questions.
